Lighter than I look

Lighter than I look

Some days
I trawl through notebooks
and journals,
sketchbooks,
jottings
and essay ideas.
They're often summaries
or outlines
of a much larger idea
or possible project.
Attitudes emerge.
Important, for the time,
thoughts on a huge variety
of subjects and issues.
It is this fabric
that provides the drive
for lots of my writing
and picture making.
Submitting yourself
to the micro / flash fiction form
demands a lot of patience.
If done properly.
Stream of consciousness work,
like early Kerouac,
demands great intelligence.
But does it demand
a similar patience?
