Part 1: Outside like.

suppose story starts on the street
outside like.
always a good place
to start a story i reckons.
begins with police searching a car.
wrong car as it happens.
other footies is holding some guy
against a wall,
while others check his jacket
in doorway of the adult store.
i understands
they won't find nothing.

Part 2 : Busy Day.

sunny day.
busy day.
bad atmosphere.
looks are being passed
between people
trying too hard
not to know each other.
failing badly they is.
should do better.
so, what's the story then?

Part 3 : Early for Some.

morning.
early for some.
late for others.
someone, it seems,
is clearly not making it
through the day
is getting desperate
and is needing
some action pretty quick.
like right away.
so.
quick snatch job is all.
bad call is what it is.
being watched see.
being watched
quite closely as it happens.
decision time.
for me.
do i
let it go,
and carry on waiting?
or do i move in
blow cover?
luckily,
for all involved
uniformed footie steps in.
very lucky.

Part 4 : Laugh That.

bit of a chase.
laugh that.
likes a good chase,
who doesn't?
security joined in too.
laugh that also.
though twats they is
for joining in
cos peoples quick round here
when opportunity arises.
so it is.
quick in and out,
even though they knows
cameras sees them all.
and they knows
security'll be having words
with them later.
poor bastards.
but hey, what you going to do?
i'll have a word
prior like,
it's what i does,
my job.
like i tells you, my street.
so that's the back story.
reckons you knows the rest...

Fives - Steve Coel

Notes.
Sips lager on bench seat by door.
First to say hello.
Last to say goodbye.
Clever spot.

Thing is, anger seems to run deep round this way.
Long memories see.

Even the bargains can seem expensive round here.

This is a nervous soundscape.

There's plenty to do when you needs to
be doing more.

Keeps my mouth shut in Clink Hotel
takes shunt, earns trust,
gets noticed.

So here I is.
Telling you what's what.
Getting out see, done my
stint, time to move on.
Disappear again.

OK, mobile you's been given will
let you know place and time
for first collection.
Don't worry, you's always
given at least 12 hours notice.
But stick to times you's given.

So; you picks up car #1.
Keys and instructions is usually
in glove compartment,
sometimes under front passenger
floor mat.
Anyway, you drives car to new location
picks up instructions for next car
and so it goes.
There's always five pick ups.
Always.
Usually takes a day
at most 3 days to do.
Depends on distances involved really.

Moneys usually in third or fourth car.
Never in first or second.
And new mobile is always in last car and is where
you leaves old one.
Makes your own way home.

So; works reasonably regular,
at least once a month, often more
and moneys real good as you knows.
But stay steady because trust me you'll
be getting new driving licence now and again
and some photographs of you with your mates at footy
or in the pub.
Get the picture?
Don't even think about what's in cars.
People you's now working for ain't
messing about.

But they trust you, is why
you's talking to me now.
Best of luck, just do the job
and keep your mouth shut.

In the corner - Steve Coel

In the corner.

In the corner sits the old lady.
Always grumbling, she mistily reads
week old newspapers.
Her spot's always ready,
been coming here years.
Has a coffee, never drinks it.
Never charged.
Round midnight she sort of
prowls out spitting at passing cars.

From a distance staff takes turns
to see her home safe.
And each morning they waits
for her return
and another day.
